THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly hails from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted love for family law, Ashley's present legal practice revolves around various aspects of family issues. She concentrates a large portion of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes divorce property distribution, child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues, step-parent and private party adoptions and issues involving children's welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since 2019. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the need for litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes as well as court-appointed mediation for individuals who want to stay clear of court processes and litigation.

After having completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received two bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. In 2013, she graduated, and excelled academically, placing among the top 10 students in her class. During her time in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal scholarship and research.

Ashley began her clerkship journey after completing her law degree. She worked for renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the privilege of working as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to be a clerk for Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, expanding her knowledge of the local legal landscape. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Ashley's dedicated efforts contributed greatly to helping children who were victims of in the face of neglect or abuse at children's parents or caregivers. Her commitment to tackling social injustice went beyond her legal profession as she was a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to increase awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law - divorce, custody and child maintenance, as well as guardianships – as well as estate and financial planning – wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a the intention of providing a personalized approach to every client's needs.
