THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal career is focused on family law. She has a love for it. She concentrates the majority of her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, property distribution in marital relationships child custody battles child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues such as step-parent or private party adoptions as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as trusts, wills, probate, and estate administration, in addition to commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since 2019. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. In addition to court-appointed mediation, Ashley also mediates in private cases for people who wish to avoid the litigation and court process.

After completing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received dual Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students in her class. During her time in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review and demonstrated her dedication to legal scholarship and research.

Ashley began her clerkship career after she completed her law degree. She was employed by renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the honor of being a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown, Maryland, to serve as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. As an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters dealing with child welfare. Ashley's tireless efforts were instrumental in helping children who were victims of abuse or negligence at the children's parents or caregivers. Her dedication to fighting social injustice went beyond her legal profession as she served as an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to increase awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her practice in family law including custody, divorce guardianships, child maintenance and divorce – as well as financial and estate planning, wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies – and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC, in 2023, with the goal of providing a personalized approach to every client's needs.
