THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. With a deep passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice is focused on a variety of aspects of family issues. She focuses the majority of her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes marital property distribution child custody battles child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues as well as step-parent and private party adoptions as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019, assisting parties in helping them resolve their matters without needing court involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes and also court-appointed mediation for individuals who wish to avoid litigation and court processes.

After completing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received dual Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. After graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, securing a spot among the top 10 students in her class. While in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review and demonstrated her dedication to legal scholarship and research.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship journey, working for notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be working as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Then, in 2014 she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to serve as a clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, further enhancing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters related to child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of neglect or abuse at hands of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice extended beyond the legal realm and she was active as an executive member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force and worked tirelessly to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tristate area.

In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law - divorce, custody, child support and guardianships - as well as estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy - and mediation.

Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the aim of providing an individual approach to every client's need.
