Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's practice in law is centered around family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division fights over child custody and child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce enforcement and post-divorce issues, step-parent adoptions and private party adoptions as and concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including trusts, wills and probate, and estate administration, in addition to commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019 and assists parties in helping them settle their disputes without need for litigation and court involvement. In addition to mediations that are court-appointed, Ashley also mediates in private matters for those who wish to avoid the litigation and court process.
After completing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received dual bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This demonstrated her commitment to scholarship and research in the field of law.
Ashley began her clerkship after completing her law degree. She worked for notable jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the honor of being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Then, in 2014 she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to clerk for the Honorable M. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her main focus within the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services on cases dealing with child welfare. Ashley's tireless efforts played a crucial role in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the children's parents or caregivers. Her dedication to fighting social injustice was not limited to her legal career as she served as a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to raise awareness regarding human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law such as divorce child support, custody, and guardianships, as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.
Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the aim of providing a customized approach to each client's needs.
