THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's law practice is focused on family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses the majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes divorce property distribution and child custody battles. child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues including step-parent and private parties adoptions and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the need for litigation or court involvement. In addition to court-appointed mediation, Ashley also mediates in private cases for those who wish to avoid the litigation and court process.

After having completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received dual bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. After graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, placing among the top 10 students in her class. While in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the honor of being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Then, in 2014, she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, further enhancing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Ashley's dedicated efforts played a crucial role in helping children who were victims of in the face of neglect or abuse at care of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice spanned beyond the realm of law and she was active as a board member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, which worked hard to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law, including custody, divorce guardianships, child maintenance and divorce and financial and estate planning - wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023 with the goal of providing a customized approach to each client's needs.
