THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly hails from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal career is centered around family law. She has a passion for it. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division and child custody battles as well as child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce and enforcement matters, step-parent adoptions and private party adoptions, as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as wills, trusts, probate, and estate administration, along with commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year 2019. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. In addition to mediation mandated by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for people who would prefer to avoid the court process and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. While in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review and demonstrated her dedication to legal scholarship and research.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with notable jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to work as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Then, in 2014 she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, further enhancing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. As an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services on cases involving child welfare. Ashley's tireless efforts played a crucial role in helping children who suffered abuse or negligence at the hands their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice went beyond the legal realm and she was active as a board member for the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, which worked hard to educate the public about human trafficking within the tri-state area.

In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law - divorce, child support, custody and guardianships, as well as estate planning - wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxy - and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the goal of providing an individual approach to every client's needs.
