THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted love for family law, Ashley's current legal practice revolves around various aspects of family-related matters. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce and enforcement issues such as step-parent adoptions and private adoptions for parties as and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has served a court-appointed mediator since 2019 and assists parties in helping to resolve their issues without need for litigation and court involvement. In addition to mediations that are court-appointed, Ashley also mediates in private cases for people who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. When she graduated in 2013, she excelled academically, securing a spot among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This demonstrated her commitment to legal research and scholarship.

Ashley began her clerkship journey after completing her law degree. She worked for renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Then, in 2014 she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to serve as a clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, expanding her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases concerning child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who had suffered abuse or neglect at the hands of their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to fighting social injustice extended beyond her legal career as she served as an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to educate the public about human trafficking within the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her practice in family law - divorce, custody and child maintenance as well as guardianships and estate and financial planning – wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the intention of providing a customized approach to each client's need.
